 About Us

We accept children from ages 6 weeks through 5th Grade.   We provide before and after school care for children K-5.  Transportation is available to and from school for school-age children in the Madison Plains School District.

For Preschool, children must be three years of age and eligible for kindergarten in your home school district in the year 2020.  To attend Pre K, your child should be attending kindergarten beginning in 2019.   Classes are held Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM  for a 1/2 day program or Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM-4:15 PM for a full day program.  The program includes wonderful opportunities for your child to grow  and learn under the supervision and guidance of our nurturing and experienced  staff.  The center has part time as well as full time enrollment  options available for Childcare.  Please call the center at  740-869-3571 for pricing and  availability.

We also accept county assistance (Title XX) through Madison,  Pickaway, Ross and Clark counties.

Our Philosophy

The First United Methodist Church Childcare Center is intended to be a supplement to the love, care, and education that each child’s parent(s)/guardian(s) give at home.

WE BELIEVE  that each child is unique; we accept the limitations as well as the potential of each child.

WE BELIEVE  in helping each child attain a positive self-image.

WE BELIEVE  a child will need education to acquire the skills needed for effective learning and living.

WE BELIEVE  that each child’s life should be guided towards harmony with God’s desires.

May the presence of this Childcare Center in our community foster the growth of Christian understanding and serve all the lives we touch.

Our Curriculum

We use The Creative Curriculum, which is the number one research based curriculum for child care centers in the country.  The Creative Curriculum is a play based curriculum that honors creativity, every type of learner, and incorporates the latest research and best practices.

Our teachers are responsible for observing the children’s interests and basing their weekly lesson plans on those interests.  They are also responsible for introducing new ideas in a fun, exciting, and hands-on way.  All lesson plans and activities are developmentally appropriate and posted for view by all parents outside of each classroom.
