“The Light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:5).
We are Easter People!
We are Resurrection People!
We are People of the Light!
It is no small thing that Christians around the world emerge this month from Easter celebrations to contend with the world around them. Jesus told his disciples then, and us his followers today, “Go out into the world … teach them to obey everything I have taught you” (Matthew 28:19-20).
It is not for us to stay inside the walls of a building shouting praise to the Risen Lord, but to move into all of creation, proclaiming Good News of Easter, telling the stories of Jesus, and teaching what Jesus has taught. During this month, we will learn (in church) of the ways Jesus saves people during their daily struggles. Then we must live (outside the church) as followers of Jesus by saving people from their daily struggles.
What will you do to clothe the naked, feed the hungry, comfort to poor in spirit, free the prisoner, heal the sick? We cannot expect Jesus to come back and do this work for us, when it is Jesus who has called each one to labor for the kingdom. Will you join me in discovering the Living Lord Jesus, so that we might live for Jesus?
Peace and Blessings,
Rev. Jay Moyers
