At the beginning of the month of May is the National Day of Prayer (May 3, 2018) and people across the nation will gather to pray for world, country and community. I would like to offer this occasion for us to practice the words of Paul found in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Rejoice always. Pray continually. Give thanks in every situation because this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Following is a guided prayer we should use daily this month to intentionally pray in a directed way.

Government – Ask God to grant our leaders wisdom, discernment and hearts open to His will. (1 Timothy 2:1-2, Romans 13:1-2)

Church – Pray for churches and ask God to preserve and protect them, as the Spirit inspires and empowers them to equip the saints. (Colossians 2:6-8, Ephesians 4:11-12)

Military – Pray that God grant our military and its leaders courage, protection and strength for them and their families. (2 Chronicles 32:6-8, Romans 13:1)

Family – Pray for the Lord to protect and strengthen families, marriages and relationships; and bring healing to broken hearts. (Mark 3:25, Romans 12:9-13)

Education – Pray for God’s presence in education, teachers, employees and administrators who honor their calling to protect our children and inspire them to discover their God-given purpose. (Proverbs 2:3-6, 8:10-11)

Media – Pray for Christian influence in the media; from movies, television, radio, newspapers, magazines and internet. May we find enterta

inment that is worthy and information that is truthful. (Philippians 4:8, Psalm 119:9)

Business – Pray for divine intervention in economy that is fair and just, which promotes safety and well-being of all creation and humanity. (Exodus 31:3-4, 1 Chronicles 29:17)
