Valentine’s Day is not the only season of love. I recently watched a commercial as a musician played piano singing the Simple Minds words, “Don’t you forget about me.” The advertisement concludes at a soup kitchen, reminding viewers the season of giving ends, but the need remains. As I have looked back over years of archived sermons, a general theme is consistent that LOVE IS THE ANSWER. I cannot get away from this reality of God, because it is so often only an ideal for humanity. Perhaps we can get on with living in the Kingdom of God’s love once we have finally learned how to truly love one another.
During the month of February, let’s keep the idea of love at the forefront of our minds, our words, our actions and our prayer life. As we practice love, then might love become as natural as breathe to our lives. Following are some focus scripture verses that can provoke the Spirit of God to lead us into daily and moment-by-moment love.
Love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:39)
Love as I have loved you (John 13:34)
Let us love one another, for love comes from God (1 John 4:7)
